Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield

The Church exists to worship, to know, and to serve God. The Westminster Assembly stated it this way: "The chief end of humankind is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever" (Shorter Catechism, 1). When we bring glory to our Creator, we fulfill the purpose for which we were created.

We do this primarily through participation in the gospel of His only Son Jesus Christ. It was in Christ that "all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell" (Col. 1:19). Therefore when we proclaim the good news of Christ, the Father is glorified. But not only that, we are invited into the family of God and experience true joy - freedom from fear, from sin and death, and even from self-centeredness. "To all who received [Jesus], who believed in his name, [the Father] gave power to become children of God" (John 1:12). Christ calls us to move out of preoccupation with self and enter the Kingdom work of the Father by serving as His children.

Christ is inviting you to begin an adventure of purpose and identity - to worship, to learn, to serve, and to become a part of His broken and beautiful family.

To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort; to all who struggle and desire hope; to all who sin and need a Savior; to all who are strangers and yearn for fellowship; to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whomever will come; this church opens wide her doors and offers welcome in the name of the risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

In the Ash Wednesday service we are reminded of our mortality, we confess our sins, and we experience forgiveness through Christ's death and resurrection. The "imposition of ashes" is a central part of the service. You are invited to com...

Wednesday Bible Study - Traveling Light
Wednesdays at 10:30 am in the Parlor Weary travelers. You’ve seen them — everything they own crammed into their luggage. Staggering through terminals and hotel lobbies with overstuffed suitcases, trunks, duffels, and backpacks. Backs ache. Feet burn. Eyelids droop. We’ve all seen people like that. At times, we are people like that — if not with our physical lugg...

Reading the New Testament in 91 Days
As we begin a New Year we sometimes make resolutions to become better people, eat more healthy, lose weight, etc. Another resolution is to read through the New Testament in 91 days. As a community of faith we would all be reading the same scriptures, and we are doing it in support of the Pastor Nominating Committee. If we began today our reading would be completed on Easter Sunday. My hope an...
