IN PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES SUSPENDED
Since COVID-19 became a serious health problem, our church has responded with an abundance of caution. Fortunately, God’s providence has blessed our congregation with an abundance of faith throughout these turbulent times. As many of you already know, our area is in the midst of another Covid spike and they are predicting an increase in cases after Thanksgiving. With abundant caution and abundant faith, the Session of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield voted Wednesday evening to suspend in-person worship services effective November 29 through December 27, 2020. The Session will monitor the situation and provide an update in late December about the possibility of resuming in-person worship services in January 2021. During the suspension, our worship service will continue to be available online on Sunday mornings at 10 am.
Also, because the office is a contained space, the church office will be closed to in-person visits until January 4, 2021. However, the building is open from 9 am. to 3 pm. The office administrator will be in the office to answer your phone calls on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 3pm. The Pastor and Sexton will maintain their regular hours while maintaining social distancing protocols.
The decision of the Session applies only to FPC. The Presby Kids Preschool, our immigrant worship services, and other organizations that use our space will make their own decisions relative to building usage.
Great Ministry Opportunities Continue
- Wednesday Bible Study, The Third Option and Men’s Breakfasts will continue via Zoom.
- The plans for Advent such as the Virtual Christmas Eve Pageant, Angel Giving Tree, Christmas Flower donations will proceed with specific instructions coming soon.
- New initiatives to connect our members to one another and sustain the love and faith of the congregation will also be developed. God’s presence, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit will continue to be felt and celebrated at FPC.
During this time of uncertainty, we turn to Scripture and find comfort and strength in Paul’s Letter to the Philippians 4: 12-13 (NIV). I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
