What to Expect
Welcome to the worship and ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield, CT! There are no strangers in Jesus Christ. At First Presbyterian Church we want you to know our doors are always open to you.
What is the worship service like?
Worship services at First Presbyterian Church are fairly traditional. The presence of God is conveyed through music, prayers and the spoken Word. Worship starts every Sunday at 10:00 AM, with small group lessons for children ages 3 to 5th grade.
Note: Hearing devices are available. Please speak to an usher as you enter the Sanctuary.
Is the Lord’s Supper served?
Communion takes place the first Sunday of every month. We remain seated for the bread and the cup, and on certain occasions during the year we come forward for the bread and the cup (Intinction).
Where should I park and where do I enter the building?
Once you turn into the church, you drive in front of the Sanctuary, and there are parking lots on either side of the church as well as in the back, where the main entrance to the office is. It is a large parking lot with plenty of space. We encourage you to park on either side and enter through the main Sanctuary doors.
Where do my children go?
Childcare is available starting at 9:45 am in the Toddler Room for children ages 2 and younger. Currently, we are not providing care for infants and babies. Children ages 3 through 5th grade are dismissed to small group programs during the worship service. Children are always welcome to stay with parents throughout Worship. Another option for parents of small children is the Reading Room located off the hallway immediately before the Sanctuary. This is a perfect place for toddlers to play while parents can watch a live stream of the service.
Small Groups for Children
Our Christian Education and Discipleship Committee uses the ORANGE curriculum for our children’s education program on Sundays. Click here for more details.
Explorers is for 3 to 4 year old children and is a place where children first learn about the love of God, how God made them and that Jesus wants to be their friend. This program is located in the yellow room in the Christian Education wing.
J.A.M. Session is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. It stands for “Jesus and Me.” Children will continue worship upstairs in the classrooms on the second floor of the Christian Education wing.
What happens after Worship?
A Fellowship hour is offered immediately after the service in Brooks Hall. You will be invited to join in this time for a snack, beverage, and conversation with members and visitors. The lector in the receiving line will happily direct you to our fellowship hall.
What happens when inclement weather is predicted?
Regardless of winter weather, Sunday morning worship services will continue as scheduled. However, please do not put yourself in harm’s way when traveling conditions are poor. “God is with you wherever you are.” Psalm 139:7-10
