The Power of Jesus' Names: Savior and Messiah by Tony Evans
The entire Old Testament was written in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah (in Greek, “Christ”). The Messianic Hope was that this one sent from God would defeat Satan and fulfill the promises of God to his people. Every problem in our life is related to sin – either our own sin, someone else’s sin that has affected us, or an environment contaminated by sin. Jesus, the Messiah came to defeat Satan and usher in the Kingdom of God, not as a warrior conqueror, but as a Savior who gave his life to save us from sin and death. We will explore how Jesus may not have been the Messiah some hoped for, but as Savior, was the Messiah every generation needs.
