Pastoral Staff



Rev. Dr. Thomas P. Groome III, Interim Minister

Tom Groome is a lifelong Presbyterian. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA in 1998 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia in 2003.

Tom’s most current ministry was the Interim Pastor/Head of Staff at Second Presbyterian Church, Lexington, KY from June 2017 to January 2019. Tom also served the First Presbyterian Church of Tupelo, MS from 2006-2017, and the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC from 1998-2006. He served a one-year term as Moderator of St. Andrew Presbytery for 2013.

Prior to seminary, Tom was Data Processing and Check Processing Manager of the Federal Reserve Bank in New Orleans, LA for 12+ years.

Tom was raised in Vicksburg, MS and graduated from LSU in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Marketing, which is also where he met his wife, Leslie. They have been married for 40 years. They have three grown children; Rebecca, who is married to Anthony and lives in Temple City, CA, Thomas, who is married to Lindsey and lives in Tupelo, MS and Anna who is married to Josh, and lives in Augusta, GA with their two children (Benjamin and Abigail). In his spare time Tom enjoys spending time with immediate and extended family, reading, and woodworking.




Erik Lindemann, Discipleship Director: Student and Small Group Ministries

Erik joined FPC in 2015 and has worked in student ministry since 2006. Before coming to FPC he served at Community Congregational Church in Billerica, MA, Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA, and Wheaton Bible Church in Wheaton, IL. He is passionate about discipleship, evangelism, and equipping students for gospel advancement. Erik is a certified trainer for Dare 2 Share and Sonlife's 4 Chair Discipling.

Erik earned a degree in Biblical Archaeology with an emphasis in ancient languages from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois in 2010. He and his wife Farrell have two children, Leif and Linnea, and currently live in Trumbull, CT.




Laurie Birch, Music Director

Laurie did her undergraduate work in music at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She later received a Master, Music Education from the University of Bridgeport. She has studied with Dr. Louise Miller, Olga Antonuk, Rosa Rio, and later with Everett Hilty, Don Vollstedt and Cherry Rhodes.

She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the American Guild of Organists, and the National Association of Music Educators.
